For the first time since I got RA I have caught some sort of bug. I have a high temperature, sore throat, headache, cough and I feel awful. My joints are hurting much more than usual and my fatigue has gone through the roof. I suppose this must be a flare. Is it usual to get a flare up of RA when you have an infection? I'm more curious than worried. I phoned the GP and he said carry on with the Plaquenil, hold off on the Mtx but phone back if it gets worse. Best wishes to everyone.

Hi Naomi,
Sorry to hear you are feeling so poorly. Yes, having an infection can cause a flare, anything which causes stress to our bodies can cause it. You just need to have extra rest, painkillers and lots of fluids. Your GP has given you good advice and I hope you start to feel better soon.
Love Doreen xx

Hi Naomi
Infections and R.A are miserable!!! Do hope you start to feel better soon, if it doesn't start to clear up, it might be best to get back to the doctor, in case you need some antibiotics.
Lots of rest and being gentle with yourself needed.
Best wishes Rebecca

Hi naomi, I totally agree with everyone, the slightest hint of a cold, it does not even have to develop into anything and my ra gets worse. As with any stress or worry. Hope you feel better soon, Zena x.

Thanks everyone. I'm taking it easy. I even took today off work (first time in a year that I've phoned in sick) and have slept most of the day. The headache is awful, as is the dizziness. It's not flu as I had the jab. It must be a cold but it's knocked me for 6. Thank goodness it's the bank holiday weekend!

Hello Naomi,
I hope you will feel much better tomorrow. Is no wonder we get ill when one day it is 17 degrees and then within a week it was 5 degrees. Here in the not so sunny South West it was only 9 degree today . brr.
Have a relaxing week end.
Rose x
